António Ferreira

Director
Spanish director, screenwriter and producer. Graduated in Spanish Philology from the University of Zaragoza. She then obtained a degree in film and television screenwriting at Autonomous University of Barcelona, then a PhD in art history. During 2006 and 2007, she studied directing at the Department of Film and Television at Tisch School of the Arts as part of the New York University. The she moved on to specialise in screenwriting at the UCLA in California. Her first films were shorts El rostro de Ido (2003), Fotos de familia (2005) and El hueco de Tristán Boj (2008). Drama Crysalis (De tu ventana a la mía, 2011) is her first and so far the only feature-length film. She founded the production company Amapola films together with Kike Mora, Raúl García and Jesús Bosqued. She lectures at the Communications Department at University of San Jorge in Zaragoza. Currently she is working on her new film La novia.

Synopsis:

Embargo is a film from 2010, based on the story by the Portuguese writer Jose Saramago. Nuno works as a hot dog vendor, while working on the invention of a scanner that could forever change the shoe industry. At a time when the country is under a gasoline embargo, Nuno finds himself in a strange situation: he remains trapped in his car and suddenly his whole life seems embargoed.
