Synopsis:

We follow the stories of people living on a street in Naples between 1940 and 1950. Gennaro and his family try to earn a living while the governments in town change – fascists, Nazis and finally the ally forces. The black market is booming, and Gennaro’s friend Pasquale is ready to do anything to earn some money: he plays a dead man, goes to prison instead of someone else…

Synopsis:

Nanda whom everyone calls 'Fortunella', is a girl from a poor family. She is so in love with Peppino that she even confesses to a crime that he committed. After she gets out of prison, she finds out that he has started living with another woman… The film features three musical motifs, of which Nino Rota borrowed two for La Dolce Vita (1960) and The Godfather (1972).
