Luigi Di Gianni graduated with a degree in philosophy and directing at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome in 1954. From 1977 to 1997, he taught documentary directing at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome.
He has directed many short and medium-length films with anthropological, social, tourist, cultural and historical topics, documentaries about art and film, as well as short and medium-length feature films. Many of his films have been shown in Italian cultural institutes in Vienna, Munich, Cologne, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki. He is currently working on the documentary Viaggio nell’Ade and writing the screenplay for the feature film under the working title Gesualdo da Venosa as well as the documentary devoted to Gesualdo Gesualdo, i percorsi dell’anima.
