Gregoris Rentis

 

Gregoris Rentis was born in Athens. Having received his MFA in filmdirecting from California Institute of the Arts, he went on to direct awarded commercials and music videos. His graduation film Sundown (15 mins, 2010) premiered at Rotterdam Film Festival. Dogwatch, his first feature-length documentary film, received the TitraFilm Jury award at Les Arcs as a work in progress and premiered at the International Competition section of Visions Du Réel in 2022.

Synopsis:

To safeguard the passage of goods through the so-called High Risk Area off the Somali coastline, privately-hired mercenaries are placed on board vessels to tackle the threat of modern maritime piracy.
