Cao Hamburger

Carlos Imperio Hamburger, better known as Cao Hamburger, is a Brazilian film and television director. He was born in Săo Paulo, Brasil, in 1962. He is the author of one of Brazil’s most popular children’s TV series of all time: Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum (1995). In 1999, he made a feature film for children based on the TV series. He directed one of the episodes of the TV series Cidade dos homens (2002 - 2005), based on the film Cidade de Deus (2002). After working on the TV series Filhos do Carnaval (2006) he directed the film O Ano em que Meus Pais Saíram de Férias (2006), which is partly based on his childhood memories.
He directed his next film, adventure drama Xingu, three years later while still directing television series.

Synopsis:

Twelve year old Mauro goes to his grandfather’s house to Săo Paulo and his parents tell him that he will spend some time there while they take a vacation. The truth is completely different: it is the 1970’s and Mauro’s parents are political activists on the run from the dictatorship government. On the day of Mauro’s arrival his grandfather dies and so Mauro has to stay with the neighbor Shlomo.
