Saputra is a director and screenwriter. He graduated in communication and then worked on television for some time. After attending a workshop led by the director Hanung Bramantyo, he worked as his assistant on the film Get Married 2 (2012). They also co-directed the sports drama Pengejar Angin (The Wind Chaser, 2011) and the romantic drama Cinta tapi beda (2012). He made his independent directing debut with the romantic drama Merry Riana: Mimpi Sejuta Dolar (2014). He also directed the drama with religious elements Ayat Ayat Adinda (Adinda’s Verses, 2015) and Perfect Dream (2017), drama about an ambitious criminal.
