Kazuyuki Izutsu

Izutsu is a Japanese director and screenwriter. Even though he has been directing since the mid 1970s, he is most famous for his recent films Pacchigi! (We Shall Overcome Someday, 2004) and its sequel Pacchigi! Love & Peace (2007) that portray the social position of Koreans in the Japanese society. Besides these he also made Gaki teikoku (Empire of Kids, 1981), Gaki teikoku - Akutare sensô (1981), Miyuki (1983), Nidaime wa Christian (1985), family drama Uchuu no hosoku (Universal Laws, 1990), action film Kishiwada shônen gurentai (Boys Be Ambitious, 1996), Nodo jiman (Amateur Singing Contest, 1999) about the amateur singing contest and the comedy Get Up! (2003).

Synopsis:

Through a story about a brother and a sister from a Korean family that lives in Tokyo in 1974, the film depicts the problems of the Korean minority in the Japanese society. A group of Japanese high school students comes to the Korean neighborhood and starts causing trouble. After the incident local Japanese and Korean high school gangs start a war.

Synopsis:

This film is a sequel to the one from 2005 (screened in Tuškanac in 2009 and titled Pacchigi! Break Through!) about problems faced by the Japanese of Korean origin (zainichi) during the mid 1970’s. An Song is trying to earn money to help her sick son who suffers from muscular dystrophy. Song's younger sister Gyong-jae tries to make a breakthrough as an actress after she is discovered by a talent scout. Her only aim is to earn money to help her nephew.
