Marin Karmitz

Marin Karmitz (October 7, 1938, Bucharest, Romania) is one of the most
esteemed producers of French film. He has lived in France since 1947. Soon after
his arrival, he became an assistant to several famous directors, including Jean-Luc
Godard and Agnes Varda. In 1964, he founded his film company MK
Production
. In 1967, he made his directing debut with the film Sept jours ailleurs. Afterwards, he made Comrades
(1970) and Coup pour coup (1972), both of which were quite radical. As a
distributor, he promoted films by new directors, (for Wim Wenders, among others).
During the 1980s, he founded the production company MK2 and began
producing films by directors such as Michael Haneke, Krzysztof Kieslowski,
Claude Chabrol, the Taviani brothers, and Alain Resnais… He has produced about
fifty films, to date.

Synopsis:

A musician is married and has a small daughter but feels lonely and worried about his future. During a tour, he falls in love with a beautiful ballerina. He plans to leave his wife but love for his daughter is stopping him… This was the directing debut by Marin Karmitz.
