Krishen (born in 1949) was educated at Mayo and St. Stephan's colleges and afterwards at the Balliol College at Oxford University. In New Delhi he taught history at Ramjas College, and began his career on film with short 16 mm films. He was assistant director to Shyam Benegal and George Luneau. Afterwards he worked for a private company in New Delhi and made short sci-fi films. His feature film debut is Masey Sahib (1985), made in Hindi. His next two films, In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones (1989) and In the Days of the Raj (1986), were sponsored by television and made in English. His last film, Electric Moon (1992), is based on writer Arundhati Roy’s screenplay who worked also on his previous film, In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones.
