Fanny Liatard

 

Before making their first film, Fanny Liatard and Jérémy Trouilh studied together at the School of Political Science in Bordeaux. After graduation, they travelled extensively before going into filmmaking. They directed a number of shorts about residents of working-class neighbourhoods. Gagarine (2021) is their feature debut, included in official competition at Cannes FF.

Synopsis:

Young Youri lives in Cité Gagarine, a huge housing project on the outskirts of Paris, and dreams of becoming an astronaut. As the building is scheduled for demolition, Youri and his friends decide to transform it into a spaceship before it is flares out of existence.
