Luigi Maggi

Luigi Maggi was an actor and director who was educated as a typographer. He was a
successful amateur actor and soon got a job as a recruiter for film extras in
the film company Ambrosio Film. In that same year, he began acting
professionally, and in 1908, he made his debut with the feature film Gli
Ultimi giorni di Pompeii
. He directed about twenty films including Il
conte di Montecristo
(1908), Il granatiere Roland (1910), La
regina di Niniva
(1910), Nozze d\'oro (1911), Satana (1912),
Nerone
(1909), Il barbiere di Seviglia (1913), Maciste alpino
(co-director, 1916). He finished his film career in 1927.

Synopsis:

A soldier, fighting in the WW I, possesses incredible strength. While fighting in the World War, he also fights a private war trying to save a girl from a castle where she is imprisoned... This is a successful film by the tandem Luigi Maggi and Giovani Pastrone, in which, due to the contemporary war euphoria, Pastrone’s Roman hero from the film Cabiria, became a modern Italian soldier.
