Japanski redatelj i scenarist, počeo je u drugoj polovici devedesetih kao pomoćnik redatelja na nekoliko filmova. Režirao je televizijsku seriju 2005. godine i potom debitirao filmom, romantičnom dramom Ekiden (2000.). Uslijedili su adaptacija romana Akanezora (Beyond the Crimson Sky, 2007.) i akcijski Fainaru jajjimento (The Final Judgement, 2012.), a trenutno mu je posljednji Kuroshima wo wasurenai (2016.).

Filmography

Hamamoto is a Japanese director and screenwriter. He started to work on film as assistant director in the second half of the 1990’s. He made his directing debut with the romantic drama Ekiden (2000) and then directed a TV series. Afterwards he adapted the novel Beyond the Crimson Sky (Akanezora, 2007) for the big screen. He also directed the action drama The Final Judgement (Fainaru jajjimento, 2012), and his last film is Kuroshima wo wasurenai (2016).

Synopsis:

This is a historical drama about a family that produces tofu. Young Eikichi mastered the art of making tofu in Kyo and arrives to Edo. There he opens a shop and marries a good-natured local girl Ofumi. In time their family grows bigger and his business more successful. Nevertheless, his oldest son seems disinterested in continuing the family business. When he develops a gambling problem, everything that Eikichi and Ofumi created is suddenly in grave danger.
