Bijan Mirbagheri

Bagheri (born in Iran, 1968) is the Iranian animator, director and screenwriter. He showed his passion for art in his early adulthood. After studying sculpture in high school, he received a university diploma in photography. For some time he was a professor of painting in Kanoon and afterwards started to work in animation. At first he was a puppeteer and animator and in 1988 he directed his first animated film The Sun Will Shine. Besides many animated and short films he also directed several documentaries and commercials. In 2004 he directed his first feature film We Are All Good People, and afterwards he made The Day Looms (Rooz bar miadad, 2007).

Synopsis:

A young couple takes a quiet vacation. After their arrival to the destination they are disturbed by an unwanted guest. Soon it is revealed that the guest is not a stranger and Pandora’s box gets opened while the protagonists start remembering the long forgotten memories, feelings of guilt and darkness from the past… This is an adaptation of Ariel Dorfman’s drama Death And the Maiden based on which a few years earlier in 1994 Roman Polanski also made a movie.
