Anders Nilsson

Nilsson is a Swedish director, screenwriter, editor and director of photography. He made Silverhawk (1987), as well as Fatal Secret (1988), Russian Terminator (1989) and The Forgotten Wells (Grottmorden, 1990), which he all co-directed and wrote screenplays together with Mats Helge (even though he is not credited on Russian Terminator). His first feature film that he directed alone is Zero Tolerance (Noll tolerans, 1999), featuring the action hero policeman Johan Falko, whom he used in the following films: Executive Protection (Livvakterna, 2001), The Third Wave (Den tredje vågen, 2003), GSI - Gruppen för särskilda insatser (2009) and Johan Falk: Vapenbröder (2009). His film When Darkness Falls (När mörkret faller, 2006) received critical acclaim and won the Amnesty International award at the Berlin Film Festival in 2007.

Synopsis:

The theme of this film is the courage of people who are facing violence and their wish to do good things in spite of the bad circumstances they are in. After her older sister is sentenced to death for dishonoring her family, Leyla decides to stand up against her family and their decision. Carina, a famous TV journalist tries to stand up to her abusive husband. The owner of a night club, Aram, witnesses a shooting by a local gang.
