Enrico Pau

Enrico Pau was born in Cagliari in 1956. He graduated with a degree in literature and teaches Italian and history in high school. After working as director and actor in theatres in 1980 he joined Aldo Tanchis and together they wrote radio shows hosted by Pau. They also made the short film La volpe e l’ape, shown at many international and domestic film festivals as well as the RAI television, the opera Il brutto anatrocolo based on Andersen’s fable (music by Giorgio Gaslini) and the documentary Storie di pugili, shown on the satellite channel Planete and at the International Festival in Dublin. In 2001, he directed L’anatema di Aquilino, video portrait of Aquilino Cannaso, writer from Cagliari as well as his first feature film Pesi leggeri, presented at the Viareggio Film Festival in 2001.

Synopsis:

Sarroch ia a village in southwestern Sardinia that lives in between harbor sirens and factory chimneys. Jimmy, who is about to turn 18, has always lived with his working class family. He gets involved in some criminal activities that cause him trouble. The film is based on Massimo Carlotto’s novel.
