Director
Director and screenwriter who studied applied arts, used to do painting, photography and poetry writing. He was one of the founders and an active member of a theatre group, and his first job on film was as a co-screenwriter and co-producer on Maa Bhoomi (Our Land, 1979) by director Goutam Ghose. His directing debut was Rangula Kala (1983) where he also appeared in the leading role. In the years that followed he made documentaries such as Maa Ooru (My Village, 1988), and success with the critics was achieved by Daasi (1988). Archana, in the leading role, was awarded Silver Lotus for best actress, while the film was awarded best regional film in Telugu language. Again having Archana in the leading role, Bongu Narsing Rao made his third film, Matti Manushulu (1990). Currently his last film is Harivillu (2003).

Synopsis:

The story is set near Hyderabad in the first half of the twentieth century. Kamakshi was sold for a small amount of money to a rich feudal family. She works as a maid, doing all possible jobs, and at the same time she is forced to be available to her master or his friends at any moment. Suffering constant harassment, Kamakshi gets pregnant. Although she wants to keep the child, she has no rights and they force her to terminate the pregnancy.
