Peter Sellers

real name Richard Henry Sellers. He died in London on July 24th , 1980 from a
heart attack. As a boy he played in a seaside vaudeville owned by his parents.
In 1949 he was the host of the comedy Goon Show on radio BBC. He
made his acting debut in the film Penny Points to Paradise (1951). The
first part of his film career he realized in Ealing comedies. Among his
early films, the most famous are The Ladykillers (1955), I'm All Right
Jack (1959) – a film that earned him international fame and The Mouse
That Roared (1959) – a film that achieved great success in the US. In 1960,
he made The Millionaires with Sophia Loren. He only confirmed his status
with Lolita (1962) and Dr Stranglove or: How I Learned to Stop
Worrying and Love the Bomb (1963), which were both directed by Stanley
Kubrick. The series of films about inspector Clouzot (also known as the Pink
Panther series), directed by Blake Edwards marked his career and ensured him
the status of one of the most popular comedians all over the world. He made more
than 50 films and earned many nominations as well as awards. He was nominated
for the Oscar and the Golden Globe three times. He won the
Golden Globe and the BAFTA award once.
