Soldini (1958) is an Italian director and screenwriter. At the age of 21, he left his political science studies and moved to New York to attend a film course. There he directed several sort films and then returns to Milan where he made Paesaggio con figure (1983). His other films include The Peaceful Air on the West (L' aria serena dell'ovest, 1990), A Split Soul (Un' anima divisa in due, 1993), The Acrobat (Le acrobate, 1997), Bread and Tulips (Pane e tulipani, 2000), which at the Pula film festival in 2001 won the Golden Arena for the best screenplay, Burning in the Wind (Brucio nel vento, 2002) and Agata e la tempesta (2004).
