Nobuhiro Suwa

Suwa is a Japanese director and screenwriter. He studied at the Tokyo Zokei University and as a student began working on independent films. After graduation he made TV documentaries with directors such as Sôge Ishiio and Masashi Yamamoto. His feature film debut was 2 Dyuo (1997), which was made in an improvisational style with actors, without a screenplay. For his next film, drama M/Other (1999), he won the FIPRESCI award in Cannes. His third film is H Story (2001), sort of a remake of Alain Resnais’ Hiroshima, Mon Amour (1959). Afterwards he made one segment in the omnibus Jeonjaeng geu ihu (After War, 2002) and his fourth film Un couple parfait (2005), a drama made in Japanese-French co production, and another segment in the omnibus Paris, je t'aime (2006).

Synopsis:

The film was shot as a documentary with a handheld camera and tells a story of estrangement between people and the decay of a loving relationship. Hidetoshi Nishijima plays a busy actor who would rather sleep all day and Eri Yu is his girlfriend, the depressive owner of a boutique.
