Kamal Tabrizi

 

Director
Tabrizi (born in Teheran, 1959) studied at the Art Academy and started to make short films in 1979. He made his feature directing debut with the film The Passage in 1988. Afterwards he made Dar maslakh-e eshgh (1990), Payan Kudaki (1994) and Leily Ba Man Ast (1996), a dark satire about the Iranian-Iraqi war, which was a huge success in his home country. He attracted worldwide attention with his drama Mehr-E Madari (1997). His other films include Gahi be aseman negah kon (2003), The Wind Carpet (Kaze no jűtan 2003), the comedy Marmoulak (2004) and his latest film Yek teke nan (2005).

Synopsis:

Ten-year-old Japanese girl Sakura travels to Iran with her dad in order to pick up a Persian carpet designed by the girl’s recently deceased mother.
