Gen Yamakawa

Yamakawa (born in 1957) is a Japanese director and screenwriter. He worked as assistant director on two films by Itsumichi Isomura and the internationally acclaimed comedy Shall we dansu? (1996) by Masayuk Suo. He wrote screenplays and directed two films: satiric comedy Takkyű Onsen (Ping-Pong Bath Station, 1998) and action film Tôkyô genpatsu (Tokyo: Level One, 2004).

Synopsis:

Sonoko is a housewife who wants more from her monotonous life and busy husband who neglects her. Since she has nobody else to turn to, she calls Kanae, host of a radio show. Kanae gives her impulsive advice to leave everything and go to a retreat, Takkyu. Sonoko listens to this unconventional advice and later in the retreat meets Kanae.
