Synopsis:

In this film Wajda speaks openly about the massacre in Katyn that took place in the 1940’s when the soviet police murdered more than fourteen thousand Polish war prisoners. The focus of the story is on four polish families whose lives were heavily influenced by this event.

Besides winning many awards and nominations, this film was the Polish candidate for an Oscar in 2008.
