Synopsis:
This is a story about two friends and professional collaborators. During fifty years of political turmoil in China, we follow their life stories. The two friends, Dieyi and Xiaolou, have been together since childhood, when they were trained in the Chinese Opera. Later they perform together on stage, one specializing in female roles and the other in those of emperors and warriors. Privately, their relationship will be shaken when Xiaolou starts seeing a woman.
