Dušan Vukotić (February 7, 1927. – Zagreb, July 8, 1998.) was a director, screenwriter,
animator, and caricaturist, who studied architecture in Zagreb. He entered the
world of animated films at the beginning of the 1950s in Duga film in
Zagreb. He made his debut with the cartoon Kako se rodio Kićo
(1951, together with Josip Sudar). In 1956, he made his own project -
Nestašni robot. His most famous animated films include Cowboy Jimmy
(1957), Veliki strah (1958), Koncert za mašinsku pušku (1958),
Krava na mjesecu (1959), Čarobni
zvuci (1957), Abrakadabra (1958), Rep je ulaznica (1959),
Osvetnik (1958), Piccolo (1959), Igra (1962). In 1961, he won
an Oscar for his animated film Surogat (this was the first time
that the Oscar in this category went outside the US). In addition, he
made some interesting feature films - Sedmi kontinent (1966), Akcija
stadion (1977), Gosti iz galaksije (1981).
