Cristian Galaz (Santiago, 1958)

Galaz studied philosophy in Chile and then in 1986 graduated with a degree in journalism from the Chilean Catholic University. After that, he worked as a director of documentaries. In 1990, he was one of the founders of the production house Nueva Imagen and directed music videos. In 1991, he founded the production house Cebra Producciones, which produced commercial videos. During 1993, he directed and co-produced the medium-length film Hay un Hombre en la Luna. Afterwards, he made his first feature film El chacotero sentimental (1999), with the assistance of Andrea Ugalde. He also directed several episodes of the TV series Hippie (2004) and Héroes (2007) and then joined forces again with Andrea Ugalde in the feature El regalo (2008).



Andrea Ugalde

Ugalde studied visual communication and in 1998 and 1999 worked as an assistant director to Cristian Galaz on his film El chacotero sentimental (1999). Afterwards she worked as the distribution manager in Galaz’s production house Cebra Producciones. In 2004 and 2006, she was the executive producer and co-director in the production house Delirio Films, which produced mainly commercials. She co-directed the feature TV film José Miguel Carrera, El príncipe de los caminos and was the co-screenwriter and co-director of the TV film Manuel Rodríguez, hijo de la rebeldía. Together with Cristian Galaz she wrote and directed the feature El regalo (2008).

Synopsis:

This is a romantic comedy about friendship and love that follows a man’s entire life, even into old age. Pacheco and Tito decide to do something special for their friend, recently retired widower Francisco. They prepare a trip to a spa and invite Francisco’s love from his teenage years, Lucy, to come along. She gladly accepts and they set off on a trip full of surprises.
