Garci is a Spanish screenwriter, director and producer. He started to work in film as an actor and screenwriter. Soon he started directing short films. He made his feature film debut with Asignatura pendiente (Unfinished Business, 1977), and won his first international award for the film Volver a empezar (Begin the Beguine, 1982), the first Spanish film to have won an Oscar in the category of Best Foreign Film. His other films are Sesión continua (Double Feature, 1984), Asignatura aprobada (Course Completed, 1978), Canción de cuna (Cradle Song, 1994), El abuelo (The Grandfathe, 1998), Una historia de entonces (You\'re the One, 2000), Historia de un beso (Story of a Kiss, 2002), Tiovivo c. 1950 (2004). In Spain he is also a famous sports commentator on television and radio.

Synopsis:

Don Rodrigo is an old Spaniard who moved to the US at the time of the Gikden Fever. However, he never became rich. Upon his return to Spain he finds out that his son has died and his daughter-in-law has two daughters, one his granddaughter and the other a product of an affair between Lucrecia and her lover. Don Rodrigo wants to find out which is his real granddaughter…
