Guitérrez is a Spanish director, screenwriter and actress born in 1962. Her full name is María Jesús Gutiérrez, and she directed her first film Sublet (Realquiler) in 1991. Afterwards she made the documentary Sexo oral (1994), the romantic drama Ciganska duša (Alma gitana, 1996), comedy Insomnio (Sleepless in Madrid, 1998) and the drama Poniente (2002). She directed one segment of the omnibus Hay motivo (2004) and the documentary omnibus En el mundo a cada rato (2004) about the lives of children in third world countries. She also made the musical comedy El Calentito (2005) and the drama Return to Hansala (Retorno a Hansala, 2008).
