Director and screenwriter. Hur graduated in philosophy from the Yonsei University and afterwards graduated from the Korean Academy of Film Arts. In 1993, he made a short film Go-cheol eul wihayeo (For Go-chul). Five years later he directed the romantic drama Palwolui Christmas (Christmas in August, 1998). Following a similar love theme and a relationship between two people, he directed the films Bomnaleun ganda (One Fine Spring Day, 2001), Oechul (April Snow, 2005), Hængbok (Happiness, 2007), Ho woo shi jul (A Good Rain Knows, 2009) and Wi-heom-han gyan-gye (Dangerous Liaisons, 2012), a Korean version of the film based on the novel Dangerous Liaisons by Choderlos de Laclos.
