Richard Lester
Peter Sellers, pravim imenom Richard Henry Sellers, rođen je 8. rujna 1925.
godine u Southsea, a preminuo je, od srčanog udara, u Londonu 24. srpnja 1980.
godine. Kao dječak glumio je u ljetovališnom varijeteu svojih roditelja.
Godine 1949. vodio je humorističnu emisiju Goon Show na radiu BBC.
Filmski glumački debi ostvaruje ulogom u filmu Penny Points to Paradise (1951).
Njegovo prvo razdoblje filmske karijere vezano je za ealing komediju.
Među njegovim početnim filmovima najznačajniji su: Gangsterska petorka
(The Ladykillers, 1955); Ja sam dobro, Jack (I'm All Right Jack, 1959) -
film kojim stječe status međunarodne filmske zvijezde; The Mouse That
Roared (1959) - film koji je imao veliki uspjeh u SAD. Godine 1960, snima
film Milijunašica (The Millionariess) zajedno sa Sophiom Loren. Ugled
učvršćuje filmovima Lolita (1962) i Dr. Stranglove (Dr.
Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, 1963) koje je
režirao Stanley Kubrick. Serijal o inspektoru Clouseau (poznat i kao serijal Pink
Panther) redatelja Blake Edwardsa obilježio je njegovu karijeru i donio mu
status jednog od najpopularnijih svjetskih komičara.Snimio je više od 50
filmova. Dobio je brojne nominacije i nagrade a posebno se ističu tri
nominacije za Oscara, tri nominacije i jedan osvojeni Zlatni globus
te nagrada BAFTA.
