Producer, screenwriter and director, born as Nicolás Javier López Fernández. He got interested in film at a young age and after reading Robert Rodriguez’s book and seeing Kevin Smith’s Clerks, he got a hold of the family’s camera and started to experiment. At the age of twelve he wrote a column for the El mercurio newspaper describing the life of a student. Due to some inappropriate commentaries in his writings, he was kicked out of school at the age of fourteen and had to start a new column under a new title. At the age of fifteen he made his directing debut with the short feature Pajero which was shown at the Valdivia Film Festival. After directing several more short features he became the founder and co-owner of the sobras.com, web page about films, comic books and video game for young people. He also started the first independent film festival in Santiago with the same name and the production house Sobras.com producciones. He produces and markets different Chilean films, and directed many musical videos. At the age of twenty he made his feature length debut with Promedio rojo (2004). It was quite badly reviewed and not very well accepted in his home country, similarly as his next film Santos (2008). His next film, comedy Que pena tu vida (2010) was more successful and he also directed two sequels, Que pena tu boda (2011) and Que pena tu familia (2012). In that same year he directed the disaster movie Aftershock (2012) in English and in Chilean and American co-production, which was quite well accepted. Without much success he returned to comedy with Mis Peores Amigos: Promedio Rojo, El Regreso (2013), and afterwards directed the well-accepted comedy Sin Filtro (2016). Currently his last film is the comedy Hazlo Como Hombre (2017), and his newest film No Estoy Loca is in post-production.
