György Szomjas

Szomjas is a Hungarian director and screenwriter, as well as a member of the Hungarian Association of Television and Film Artists. He began to work on film during 1960s. In the mid 1970s, he made his first well-known films Talpuk alatt fütyül a szél (Bad Guys, 1976), Rosszemberek (The Wind Blows Under Your Feet, 1979), Könnyü testi sértés (Tight Quarters, 1983), Falfúró (1985), Roncsfilm (Junk Film, 1992), Gengszterfilm (Gangster film, 1999) and Vagabond (2003).

Synopsis:

Karesz is an abandoned young man who lives on the street and is surrounded by drugs and crime. He meets Zsófi, an attractive young member of the local folklore club. Soon, they fall in love and he becomes interested in folklore music and dance. However, in order to be able to devote his time to these new interests, he has to break all ties with the old crowd and way of life.
