Yukiko Mishima

Mishima is a Japanese director and screenwriter. She began her career as a screenplay writer and director of TV series in mid-1990’s. In 2009, she directed her first feature-length film, drama Bread of Happiness (Shiawase no pan, 2012), for which she also wrote the screenplay. The film is the first part of the planned trilogy about life on the island Hokkaido and its rich nature. The second part is A Drop of the Grapevine (Budô no namida, 2014). She directed the drama A Stitch of Life (Tsukuroi tatsu hito, 2015) about a seamstress who creates clothes in a traditional way individually designing each piece. Her film Night's Tightrope (Shôjo, 2016) about two high school girls and their interest tin death is currently in post-production.

Synopsis:

Ao dreamed of a music career in Europe, but had to return to Hokkaido due to hearing problems. His younger brother Roku grows wheat at the family farm that the brothers inherited from their father. Surrounded by the beautiful nature, Ao begins to grow grapes and wants to have an exquisite sort of pinot noir. Suddenly there appears the charming and mysterious Erika at a neighboring field…
