Synopsis:
This omnibus was filmed at the initiative of Amnesty International and it consists of short films by thirty directors (Chantal Akerman, René Allio, Denis Amar, Jean Becker, Jane Birkin, Bertrand Blier, Jean-Michel Carré, Alain Corneau, Costa-Gavras, Dominique Dante, Raymond Depardon, Jacques Deray, Michel Deville, Jacques Doillon, Martine Francke, Gérard Frot-Coutaz, Bernard Giraudeau, Francis Girod, Jean-Luc Godard, Romain Goupil, Jean-Loup Hubert, Robert Kramer, Patrice Leconte, Anne-Marie Miéville, Sarah Moon, Michel Piccoli, Alain Resnais, Coline Serreau, Bertrand Tavernier and Nadine Trintignant). In all the films, each director advocates for one political prisoner. The part directed by Claire Denis is about Ushari Ahmed Mahmoud from Soudan. Accompanied by melancholic music and a recording of Alain Souchon on loneliness and powerlessness of immigrants, we observe two men from Africa walking the streets of Paris.
