Some people claim it is a scientifically proven fact that the year we are about to begin will be the last year in the life of our homely blue planet. If this turns out to be true, it means that you have to think harder than ever about where you will choose to celebrate New Year’s Eve, 2012! This year, Croatian Film Club’s Association is making sure you will remember this fateful celebration for the rest of your life by organizing, in the style of the olden days, an original celebration full of gastronomic and film surprises in the Tuškanac movie theater. This feast is ideal for those who want to spice up their New Year’s celebration with the traditional glass of champagne and a pinch of fresh celluloid, accompanied by green melodies pleasant to the ear and a dash of New Year’s nostalgia.
Our guests will celebrate the New Year with two exclusive film screenings (before and after midnight), one classic comedy Bringing up Baby from 1934 by the great Howard Hawks and starring Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn, as well as the cinema premiere of the flirty and humorous romantic musical Love and Cigarettes starring James Gandolfini, Susan Sarandon, Kate Winslet, Christopher Walken and Steve Buscemi, a film program of New Years’ celebrations from the previous and the beginning of this century, appropriate film music and a special menu for those who prefer to enjoy a bite to eat more than culture. Do we even have to mention that Tuškanac movie theater will, for one night, become a time machine in which the aforementioned end of the world is not anxiously anticipated?
Arrival to Tuškanac is planned for 8 pm. At the entrance, our guests will receive popcorn, a drink (free water, Coca Cola, juice, beer and also a glass of champagne before midnight). The first screening will begin at 9 pm.
After the first film, we will serve a traditional menu: sarma, potatoes, baked beans, home-made bread, poppy cake, walnut cake and Christmas cookies (all included in the entrance fee). In addition, there will be two bars where you can buy drinks. All this accompanied by a DJ who will play carefully selected music in all areas of Tuškanac movie theatre. Around 1 am we will show the second film.
The price of the ticket for Film Programmes’ members is 150 kuna, and for everybody else 200 kuna. They are sold at the movie theatre register in Tuškanac, Tuškanac 1 from Friday, December 16. The register opens an hour before the first screening and is open every day from Monday to Saturday.
