Sogo Ishii

Ishii is a Japanese director and screenwriter who made films during his studies. He graduated with the film Kuruizaki sanda rodo (Crazy Tunder Road, 1980). Afterwards he made Bakuretsu toshi (Burst City, 1982), Gyakufunsha kazoku (The Crazy Family, 1984), Enjeru dasuto (Angel Dust, 1994), Mizu no naka no hachigatsu (August in the water, 1995), Yume no ginga (Labyrinth of Dreams, 1997), Gojoe reisenki (2000) and Electric Dragon 80.000 V (2001).

Synopsis:

Inhabitants of Genkai suffer from terrible heat and a mysterious illness. A girl, Izumi Hazuki (Rena Komine), arrives to town and causes a stir in her school, mainly between boys. She is a champion water jumper. Soon, she becomes close with Mao (Shinsuke Aoki) and they decide to participate in the traditional festival Yamagasa. Their friend Miki, who is a fortune-teller and horoscope maker, warns them that that day may be dangerous for Izumi... This is an atypical film by one of the most interes...
