Momir Matović was born in 1951 in Titograd/Podgorica. He graduated with a degree in cinematography from the University of Drama Arts in Belgrade. He is one of the most prominent directors of documentaries from Monte Negro and is the internationally acclaimed author of short films. Besides from directing them, he also writes screenplays for his films, and in Žica života and Ja znam kako he was also the cinematographer.
He has won many awards and much recognition at international film festivals, and has had his retrospectives shown in Turin, Ancona, Bornholm, Berlin, Hamburg, Wiesbaden and Bergen.
