Director

Swedish photographer, director and documentary film producer. She began her career as a photographer, and during the mid-nineties she started doing reports for TV and film. In 2003, she attended a one-year specialist course on documentary film at the Dramatic Institute in Stockholm, and in 2007 a course on film editing. She directed her first documentary, Welcome to the Suburb, in 1998. From 2001, she regularly makes documentaries, the most important of which are Fotografen från Riga (2009), the two-part Closed psychiatric ward (2010) and Palme (2012), released in two parts for TV and as a shorter, theatrical version. Portraying the personal and professional life of the assassinated former Swedish Prime Minister, the film broke all viewing records. She co-directed and wrote it with Kristina Lindström. As with her previous work, the documentary was produced by her own, Stockholm based production company, Maud Nycander Film.
