Robert Wiene (November 16, 1880.) was a German screenwriter and director. He studied acting and started to work in film as a screenwriter at the age of 32. His most famous film is the horror The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (Das Cabinett des Dr. Caligari, 1919), the classic German expressionist film. He also made Genuine (1920), Raskolnikov (Raskolnikow, 1923), Crown of Thorns (I.N.R.I., 1923) and The Hands of Orlac (Orlacs Hände, 1925).
