Zidi is a French director, screenwriter and cinematographer. As a director he made comedies with the leading French comedians - Rookies Run Amok (Les bidasses en folie, 1971), The Big Store (Le grand bazar, 1973), Lucky Pierre (La moutard me mont e au nez, 1974), The Wing and the Thigh (L’aile ou la cuisse, 1976), Inspector Blunder (Inspecteur La Bavure, 1980). He directed the police drama My New Partner (Le ripoux, 1984), love story Two (Deux, 1989), and in 1990 he made My New Partner II (Ripoux contre ripoux) sequel to the 1984 film My New Partner. He directed his film Asterix and Obelix vs. Caesar (Asterix et Obelix contre Caesar) in 1999.
