Synopsis:
We follow the life story of the maid Céléstine. In the 1930s, she works at the Monteil family’s estate in the country. The family consists of Mr Rabour, with a fetish for shoes, his frigid daughter and her maid-chasing husband. Céléstine has to learn to cope with her new surroundings which also include Joseph, a fascist ranger who flirts with her and their neighbor, a retired officer who cannot stand Mr. Monteil.
