Synopsis:
It is 1832, and young Italian soldier Angelo Pardi is in France where he and his fellow countrymen are trying to raise money for liberation of Italy from Austria. After one of them betrays them, Angelo flees before Austrian agents. At the same time, France is hit by a cholera epidemic, which additionally hinders his chances of fleeing. He meets Countess Pauline de Théus and decides to help her find her husband.
