Synopsis:
Young Finnish woman Laura and tipsy Russian miner Ljoha meet on a crowded train. Laura is traveling to see the old petroglyphs and wants to become a sophisticated archaeologist who finds fulfilment in such things. Even though they annoy each other, the two strangers develop an unusual relationship of silent recognition on a bitter-sweet journey towards understanding and acceptance of themselves as they are. Finnish director Juho Kuosmanen’s second film (The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki – ZFF 2016; Cannes, Un Certain Regard Prize) is a melancholic and moving Arctic road movie awarded the Grand Prix at Cannes.
