Synopsis:
Rita is an outsider. At school everyone laughs at her big breast, and teachers say she's insolent. Rita does everything to please and prove herself, which makes the situation ever worse. Parents want to tame her, but good old methods do not work with Rita. Rita's father's nasty temper sows fear and terror; he calls Rita a 'wicked creature'. Lovely Rita talks about Rita's stubborn attempt to escape loneliness and to be dear to someone – for example little Fexi who is thirteen, lives next door and has asthma. He is an outsider too so he agrees with Rita. But Rita goes too far – she overestimates his maturity and gets too close. Her struggle for love, chases love away because she constantly breaks the rules and norms others, especially her parents, are trying to uphold. Finally Rita finds a radical way toward freedom – and she acquires it in a horrible form… The film was an official entry at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival.
