Synopsis:
The story takes place in Lika in 1918, at the end of WW I. On a remote saddle of Velebit Mountain there is a gendarmerie station situated just at the edge of the area controlled by criminals led by Todor the Horrible. This time in history was crucial; nobody knew what would happen the next day and whether Austria-Hungary and the gendarmerie would survive. Therefore the chief gendarmerie officer, Cokula, develops a sort of a collegial relationship with the criminals but at the same time he would like to catch their leader, Todor.
