Synopsis:
The whole Portokalos family is worried about Toula. She is in her thirties, unmarried and working in her parents’ Greek restaurant. However, she is determined to change her job because she does not plan to spend the rest of her life in the family’s restaurant. Unfortunately, her family is not ready for such a change. Soon she gets a job in her aunt’s travel agency and falls in love with Ian Miller, an English professor. Toula’s father and the rest of the family become very upset because Ian is not Greek. This entertaining romantic comedy turned out to be a big surprise in American theaters and was nominated for an Oscar in the category of the best screenplay.
