Following the success of his feature debut Eva Nová (Toronto 2015 – FIPRESCI Award), Slovakian director based in Zagreb, Marko Škop, brings a family drama about Eastern Europe’s moral responsibility and xenophobia. Milan, a benevolent construction worker living in Germany, returns to Slovakia to spend Christmas with his family. During his stay, he discovers his son Adam has become a member of a paramilitary group and was involved in harassing a school colleague. To get to the truth, Milan must re-examine the deep-rooted values of his community. Let There Be Light premiered at Karlovy Vary (Ecumenical Jury Special Mention, Best Actor) and was Slovakia’s Oscar contender this year.
