Spring, summer, winter, fall… Through the rhythms of the seasons and personal lives of its inhabitants, this film paints an impressionist painting of a small town on the French northern coast. Every character tells a story about the town using metonymy. Scenes from everyday lives reveal many people’s wishes to live somewhere else. There are portraits of people who have left the small town, those that just dream about leaving it and those who are happy where they are… The film won the award for the best cinematography at the Cannes film festival in 2002.
