Synopsis:
Dickens’ classic was made into a musical based on the successful theatre play by Lionel Bart, premiering in 1960 in London’s West End. In 1963, the play was performed on Broadway. Four years later, this film was made. For the purposes of the musical, the story was simplified but the main theme about the orphan Oliver remained the same.
The film won six Oscars including the one for Best Film, Best Director, Original Music and the honorary award for choreography.
