Director’s statement:
This film describes the biggest period of reforms in China. During 1980s, the most popular song was Zhantai. It is a song about expectations. As a present to people’s hopes, I decided to name my film after that song. Zhanta iis a film about people and with it I wish to investigate and show their immense power. The film talks about the experiences of the masses that I constantly follow and borrow from them
