This is a Yugoslav-Russian coproduction based on the first novel by Mihailo Lalić. The story takes place during WW II in a prison in Monte Negro. The prison is run by occupators and the prisoners are political activists, communists and partisans. A group of prisoners manages to escape and join the partisans.
In 1974, Dragomir Bojanić 'Gidra' won the Golden Arena in Pula as best actor for his role in this film.
